Ons was goeie gedisiplineerde troepe!

Vat dit soos 'n man, nie 'n moffie.

Hoednam 9/10/2010 8:24:14 AM

Nelrie 9/10/2010 8:29:28 AM

Voormalige Lugmag Lid 9/10/2010 8:33:54 AM

"If you can't stand the heat, leave the kitchen..."

Verdomp 9/10/2010 8:55:30 AM
Maans, jy is 'n n*&%#i, as jy nie weet vaarvan jy praat nie moet jy liewers jou mond hou.

Elize 9/10/2010 9:16:35 AM
Ag Maans van watter planeet is jy, my dogter was besig met haar opleiding as 'n ATC in die Lugmag................en sy was deel van 'n rassisme probleem alreeds gewees dit het Beeld voorblad gehaal, maar daar het niks van gekom nie omdat sy WIT is!

Danie 9/10/2010 9:17:41 AM

pti 9/10/2010 9:55:59 AM
Ek kan my ore nie glo nie - ek was n pti op Hoedspruit basis en so ook Valhalla. Daar was geen sulke st*nt gewees nie- WYS MAAR NET HOE DINGE VERANDER A.G.V GEEN DISIPLINE NIE.En so vir die rekord: Disipline vloei van bo na onder - Hallo

Fran 9/10/2010 9:58:43 AM
Ek was in die Vloot 95-96. Daar is op ons gevloek en geskree, ons was verneder en aangerand, water PT was 'n greeelde verskynsel, elke dag push ups gedoen op vuurwarm teer. Hell camp x 20. Regig, as die weermag vir jou te hard is of jy mis jou mamma te veel, verlaat die instansie of grow a pair.

Hannes 9/10/2010 10:00:06 AM

Harare - Zimbabwe is negotiating R3.25bn in credit from South Africa in an effort to revive the country's economy, the finance minister said Wednesday.

"There are two facilities that we are negotiating. One is a line of credit of R500m, one is a revival of an old overdraft facility of R2.75bn," Tendai Biti told business leaders in the capital.

"We are also talking to private capital, the banks," he said.

Mugabe and his longtime rival Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai formed a unity government in February last year, hoping to end a decade of political and economic crisis.

The unity government has appealed for $10bn for reconstruction, but major Western donors have demanded more political reforms before offering direct budget support.
Daily Mail

Two people have been left with life-threatening injuries after their plane crashed into the back garden of a bungalow today. Neighbours described seeing the light aircraft clip the roof of a house before it crashed at about 2.15pm this afternoon.

Reports claim one person had to be cut from the Cessna aircraft in Totton, Hampshire, and flown to hospital in an air ambulance.

The other had to be taken to hospital in an ambulance.

Both are reported to have life-threatening injuries.
A total of 15 firefighters were sent to the scene to help free the stricken pilot and passenger.

Retired sales executive Shirley Laing, 65, said she witnessed the crash happen. She said: 'My husband and I were sitting outside on the patio enjoying lunch in the sunshine and suddenly saw this plane very low in the sky.

'It was absolutely quiet, as if the engine had cut out, and it was approaching very rapidly.

'It skimmed the tops of the oak trees and started to wobble, the wings were dipping.' She added: 'We often see planes but this was incredibly low and clearly in trouble.

'It looked like the pilot was trying to maintain control and then skimmed the roof of my neighbour's house.

'The plane managed to make it over the road and land in the back garden of a bungalow opposite.

'It was horrific - we could see the smoke pouring over the bungalow and the emergency services rushed to the scene very quickly.

'We're just praying the people inside the plane pull through.'

A fire service spokesman said the casualties had been taken to Southampton General Hospital. The UK Air Accidents Investigation Branch is set to be notified of the crash.

Saab charged over sale of Gripens to SA
MAGNUS WALAN - Sep 09 2010 17:59

Criminal charges were filed on Thursday against Sweden's Saab AB for bribery after the emergence of new facts relating to the sale of Jas 39 Gripen aircraft to South Africa in 1999 and the counter-purchases that were a part of the agreement.

Aid organisation Diakonia, the Swedish Fellowship of Reconciliation and the Swedish Peace and Arbitration Society, which brought the charges, are demanding that the discontinued investigation into the sale be resumed.

Anna Ek, president of the Swedish Peace and Arbitration Society, said the deal could be the largest biggest corruption scandal yet involving a Swedish corporation. "Our nation's chief prosecutor must leave no stone unturned in efforts to ensure the whole truth is disclosed and that those responsible are brought to justice," Ek said

Information contained in a newly published book entitled Bribery, Power and Aid -- Jas and the South Africa affair, suggests that suspicious payments were made by Saab subsidiary Sanip to South African businessman Fana Hlongwane, who has close connections with the South African political elite and served as adviser to Joe Modise, former defence minister, at the time the deal was closed.

Hlongwane has also served as a board member and CEO of the South African defence corporation Denel that was involved in the counter-purchases.

"We have warned all along that the sales of Jas to South Africa could undermine efforts at poverty reduction in that country and that the counter-purchases will not benefit the poor," said Bo Forsberg, Diakonia secretary general. "Now it has become clear that the entire agreement was secured in a corrupt manner."

Politicians from both sides of the politic divide in Sweden supported and devoted much diplomatic and political energy to convincing South Africa to purchase the Gripen aircraft.

The government provided export credits through EKN, the Swedish export credits guarantee board, worth 16-billion Swedish kroner, while SEK, the Swedish export credit corporation, made multibillion-kroner loans.

Elisabeth Lundgren, secretary general of the Swedish Fellowship of Reconciliation, said: "We demand that an independent citizens' commission be formed and charged with investigating the role played by the government in these arms deals.

"A frightening silence seems to prevail, whereby decision-makers seem to protect and watch out for each other."

Comments

YES!! BRAVO SWEDISH PEACE AND ARBITRATION, DIAKONIA, AND SWEDISH FELLOWSHIP OF RECONCILIATION. It's about time someone, somewhere demanded an accounting of the bribes and kickbacks that affected both Sweden and South Africa with devastating consequences for the poor in SA whose living conditions have worsened as a result of money mis-spent on un-necessary military hardware. And great timing, Swedes!
Rory Quinn on September 9, 2010, 6:20 pm

Cool, I wonder what the official south african response is to these charges, hahahahaha, they keep getting caught with their pants down.
white trash on September 9, 2010, 6:27 pm

There is no doubt that there were huge kickbacks in the Gripen deal. First, SA paid an inflated price of well over 60m USD per plane, when the list price was about 30m. Secondly, and this is even more interesting, the Gripen is not well suited to SA conditions, having a very limited payload/range capability and being heavily reliant on a fleet of tankers, which SA does not have. We have spent a fortune and received a 'toy'. Even the Saudis, who also pay large bribes, at least have the sense to buy equipment of some strategic value.
Mark Robertson on September 9, 2010, 6:28 pm

The other point which nobody notices is that the Gripen has such high US content that we may well have bought a superior US product. Should SA and the US ever have a major fall out, which is quite possible given the current direction SA is heading in, the US could ground our entire fleet just by cutting off spare parts. We are not always terribly smart.
Mark Robertson on September 9, 2010, 6:32 pm

Oh snap!

Response from the ANC? Or will they ignore this matter, and hope it goes away? Like the BAE guilty admission.
Sinudeity @gmail.com on September 9, 2010, 6:50 pm

Slowly, slowly, the truth will out.

How will President 783 cover this one up? Menzi Simelane does not work in the Swedish chief prosecutor's office.
v 3 on September 9, 2010, 6:54 pm

"A frightening silence seems to prevail, whereby decision-makers seem to protect and watch out for each other." Indeed. That describes today's SA political culture to a tee. Why does it take a foreigner to say it?
Mark Robertson on September 9, 2010, 6:59 pm

I sincerely hope and pray that the whole truth will prevail and that each and every one of the international corporations and local politicians and other perpetrators in this and every other corrupt transaction that bled our fiscus dry will rather sooner than later be brought to book. They stole our peace and prosperity and everyone that along the way covered in any manner whatsoever for any of them for whatever reason should hang their heads in shame. They all are traitors of the worst kind imaginable. If they are law enforcement officials or members of any one of the Institutions mentioned in Chapter 8 and 9 of the Constitution, 1996 the must be charged with high treason.
Red Robin on September 9, 2010, 7:49 pm

Let's hope the Swedes put more than a single investigator on the case! Filing charges is one thing, getting the appropriate resources assigned to the prosecution is another. Note that the original investigation was discontinued.
Interpol warns on Qu'ran burning
2010-09-09 19:53

Lyon - The global police agency Interpol warned on Thursday that if a US church group makes good on a threat to burn copies of the Qu'ran it will probably trigger terrorist attacks around the world.

Interpol Secretary General Ronald Noble said he had warned member states that "if the proposed Qu'ran burning... goes ahead as planned, there is a strong likelihood that violent attacks on innocent people would follow.

"Although there are currently no specific details as to what forms of terror attacks would follow, what is clear is - if the Qu'ran burning goes ahead as planned - there will be tragic consequences," he said in a statement.

A small church group in the US state of Florida is planning to mark the September 11 anniversary of the 2001 attacks on New York and Washington by burning copies of the Qu'ran, Islam's holy book.

The threat has received worldwide condemnation and provoked warnings from the group's own US government and experts around the world that the insult to Islam could provoke bloodshed.

Interpol has forwarded its 188 member states a warning from Pakistan's Interior Minister Rehman Malik of likely reprisals, and said it had expressed its own concern while asking police forces to pool information.

"September 11 is a day when the world should come together to redouble our efforts to prevent and fight terrorism," Noble said.

He warned any burning would "give terrorists propaganda intended to convert September 11 from a day of remembrance, to one of recruitment for terrorists and others inspired to attack the US and other Western targets".

The agency said its 24-hour command centre in the central French city of Lyon would be "on alert... to treat with urgency any information related to potential criminal conduct linked to the burning of the Qu'ran".
